Call for massive sit-ins

Sun Oct 08, 2006 at 11:10:45 AM PDT

We Want our Country Back and
The Troops Home from Iraq
Massive Sit-in, White House
November 7th and 8th

A message from Cindy Sheehan:

Good comes from the bottom up---crap rolls down hill. I am tired of getting crapped on by our government---when will it be enough for you? We are covered with crap and our leaders aren't going to clean it up---we have to.
Gold Star Families for Peace is planning on convening on the White House on election day and the day after (Nov. 7 & 8).

Commas for Profit

Mon Sep 25, 2006 at 10:09:14 AM PDT

Our "compassionate conservative" misleader was on CNN with Wolf Blitzer and he had the following to say about the heartache and pain that he has caused the world since his illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq began.

BLITZER: Let's move on and talk a little bit about Iraq. Because this is a huge, huge issue, as you know, for the American public, a lot of concern that perhaps they are on the verge of a civil war-if not already a civil war-We see these horrible bodies showing up, tortured, mutilation. The Shia and the Sunni, the Iranians apparently having a negative role. Of course, al Qaeda in Iraq is still operating.
BUSH: Yes, you see -- you see it on TV, and that's the power of an enemy that is willing to kill innocent people. But there's also an unbelievable will and resiliency by the Iraqi people.... Admittedly, it seems like a decade ago. I like to tell people when the final history is written on Iraq, it will look like just a comma because there is -- my point is, there's a strong will for democracy.

Me, Hugo, and George

Wed Sep 13, 2006 at 10:09:34 AM PDT

I posted a diary yesterday about how I did not want George Bush to "protect" me by torturing and killing innocent people.

Hey George

Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 03:08:52 PM PDT

Hey George,

I came across the below exchange that you had with Matt Lauer on the Today Show. I would like to respond to you as an American.

Obligations

Thu Aug 31, 2006 at 06:14:58 PM PDT

bought land in Crawford, Tx to conduct our Camp Caseys until the horrendous nightmare of an occupation ends in Iraq or/and until our world no longer has to suffer under the Bush Regime. But our land will also be a permanent place for peace and as a bastion of hope and refuge for soldiers whether they want to be in the military or not.

So many other people have literally put their blood, sweat and tears into Camp Casey III and all of the previous Camp Caseys---wonderful peace activists who give up many days, but in most cases, many weeks to come to hot, sweaty, dry, and dusty Crawford, Texas to show BushCo, our country and our world, that there are people in our nation who love peace with freedom so much that they are willing to drop their own lives to make such things realities in our lifetimes.

Celebrating Irrelevancy

Mon Aug 28, 2006 at 02:16:55 PM PDT

Laying here in my motel room recovering from my 4th trip to the e.r. in a little over two weeks, and two surgeries, I found out from the Waco Tribune, (Sunday, August 27) that I have become "irrelevant" to the anti-war movement.

A Mother's Pain

Fri Aug 25, 2006 at 01:58:04 PM PDT

The only thing I ever wanted to be my entire life was a Mom. I never even thought of having a career because I always wanted to have babies. My own family was pretty dysfunctional when I was growing up and I just wanted to have a family of my own to love and nurture.

Please meet me at the Crossings

Sun Aug 13, 2006 at 01:05:13 PM PDT

Dear Daily Kos Community,

I am out of the hospital now, but still in need of rest and feeling rather weak.  I wanted to let you know that I love you all sooo much and I am deeply moved by your encouragement and support.  Thank you all for making me feel so welcome here.

I'm hoping to meet many of you at a very special gathering for women August 24 - 27.

Heart Connects: Camp Casey Day

Mon Aug 07, 2006 at 07:00:39 AM PDT

A year ago today,  about 100 of us marched down Prairie Chapel Road in the awful Texas heat into history. Today, with very short notice, dozens of us marched down the same road, with the same results: no meeting with the cowardly cowboy wanna-be in chief.

There are Criminals and then there are CRIMINALS

Fri Mar 10, 2006 at 02:19:32 PM PDT

As I lie here in bed recuperating from the injuries that I received from a federal agent and the NYPD in front of the US Mission to the UN (USUN) the other day, I have had time to reflect on the experience, the state of our union and its descent into a fascist state.

Cegelis vs. The Machine

Fri Mar 03, 2006 at 11:36:37 AM PDT

I am beginning to wander what it is that such "Democrats" like Rahm Emanuel (Illinois), Chuck Schumer (NY), and Nancy Pelosi (Ca) are protecting in Iraq. What is it that they have at stake in keeping the occupation of Iraq going? Their constituents in every case are solidly anti-war and anti-Bush. They all come from the bluest of states and/or districts. Yet when faced with the chance to defend and promote antiwar candidates who agree with the majority of Americans that it's time to get out of Iraq this year, they go into overdrive to try to destroy their candidacies.

Women Say No to War

Wed Mar 01, 2006 at 12:02:38 PM PDT

Iraqi Women Make Rare Trip to the US for International Women's Day

Will speak with members of Congress, meet with Cindy Sheehan, and deliver an urgent call for peace to the UN and White House

Numbers

Mon Feb 06, 2006 at 03:01:09 AM PDT

The now famous black shirt with white lettering that I was wearing on January 31st to the State of the Union address originally read: 2000 Dead. How many more? That shirt was made by Veterans for Peace on the occasion of the 2000th U.S. soldier killed in Iraq. That tragic number was reached on September 25th, 2005.

What Really Happened.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 at 12:19:44 AM PDT

Dear Friends,

As most of you have probably heard, I was arrested before the State of the Union Address tonight.

I am speechless with fury at what happened and with grief over what we have lost in our country.

A New World is Possible

Thu Jan 26, 2006 at 05:57:04 AM PDT

And necessary! This is the theme for the World Social Forum that I (and tens of thousands of people from all over the world) am attending in Caracas this week. I know the idea of a world where everyone lives in peace and with justice is very "subversive" but the theme is very close to my heart and soul.

We need a new world. This one is broken.

Matriotism

Sun Jan 22, 2006 at 09:40:52 AM PDT

Much as I wish I could take credit for the word "matriotism," another woman wrote to me and gave me the concept. I was so intrigued by the word that I have been meditating on the possible ideology behind it, and a new paradigm for true and lasting peace in the world.

Before I dive into the concept of Matriotism, let's explore the word "patriotism." Dictionary.com defines it as: love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it. When we all know that patriotism in the US means: exploiting others' love for country by sending them and their children off to sacrifice for my bank balance!

A Message from Cannon Fodder in Iraq

This is from a friend of mine whose son is in the Army, stationed in Baghdad.
